Well, we've changed our name from Harlindon to Faceless Ones. With
that, we had to create a new Facebook page. The reasons are simple
enough, and since a lot of you have wondered why, here's the answer:
First
off, we only made a new Facebook page because we really had no other
choice. We ended up talking with the Facebook support line for a long
time discussing how we could change it: what started with just a $99 fee
for name change of the Harlindon page turned into $99 plus deleting all
of your likes, which would be a waste of both the band and our
followers’ time and resources. We chose to create a fresh start with the
new page, which reflects the reasoning behind the new name as well.
The
name Harlindon originated and continued as sort of a joke: for those of
you who aren’t aware, it is the territory below Mithlond in the
Northwestern region of Middle Earth, and therefore is Tolkein’s
intellectual property. There is the possibility of us running into
copyright issues down the line, at which point changing our name would
have been even more turbulent. Of course, some have pointed out that
there may not be any copyright issues at all, but that’s not the entire
story.
As many of you know, we take our music and our goals very
seriously: to change people’s lives through music is what we strive to
do. Faceless Ones describes the condition of many people: searching for
themselves, two-faced, unsure of who they are, insecure. Moreover, it
exemplifies the constant effort for us to be better, unified, and a
healthy community where one doesn’t have to put on a face, they can just
be.
We are proud to become Faceless Ones, and we thank you for
all of your continued support. We can’t wait to come at you with a lot
of new stuff this summer, and we’re so thankful to have you along for
the ride!
